Ball girl

It is not a good idea to bring a puppy for tennis, but Luna has a privilege to have her mom over the weekend. So, I brought her. After 30 minutes, there are no people besides us; then I let her off leash. :)

Now she started learning to be a ball girl.

Digging...

Luna likes digging. Unfortunately, she is not allowed to dig in my room. But, now she is in house-breaking mode and has started digging carpet...

She was so happy to dig when we were at a park.

Lunar Eclipse

Today is Luna's day since we can take a look at a total lunar eclipse tonight...

Now Luna is taking a nap to get ready for tonight.
Well, she is sleeping during the day anyway...

Acrophobia...

Luna and I are living in the 3rd floor. Every time we go for a walk, we need to walk down the stairs.
Since Luna has a fear of heights, she cannot step down from the 3rd floor to the ground level; so I carry her every time...

Poor Luna...since her mom likes adventure and higher places. :)

Big nose

Every time when I hold a camera, she is running towards me. So, only thing that I can capture is the big nose of Luna.

This is the big nose of 4 months.

Sunny!

We have been under a cloudy sky for a few days, then finally it's sunny on Sunday afternoon. We went to the park that we usually go over the weekend. Then, we met a female adult corgi.
She is 14-year old and looks very pretty.

Luna tried to play with her. But she was not up and chasing. Anyway, Luna had a good time with her.

Hiccups...

Sometimes, Luna abruptly gets hiccups while sleeping.

Ever since I was a child, my family always has dogs, a sheltie, a husky, and two Pomeranians. But for me, this is the first time to raise a puppy from very early puppy hood. So, I've never seen that a puppy has hiccups, which made me surprised at first and still makes me worried at times.

Why Luna?

Naming a puppy is very difficult, I believe. So, I started exploring potential names before I met Luna.
I first met Luna in the second week in May, when she was two-week old. I visited my breeder living in San Francisco.

I asked him the names of Luna's father and mother. The father's name is actually Luna. So, I decided to look for something related to planets or Latin. But I couldn't find anything that I like.

As most of my friends know, I like anything in yellow and moon. So, I just named her as "Little Luna."

Playtime?

When I work in the living room, Luna is staying somewhere in the same room, rolling, sleeping, playing with toys, chasing her tail, looking up the sky, etc...

Recently, she learned the little noise, which sounds when I close my computer.
For her, it is the sign that I stop working and Luna expects, "My playtime might happen!"
She gets excited, wagging her tail and running up to me.

But unfortunately, it doesn’t always happen...

Bless you!

Wherever Luna is in my room, whatever she is doing, even during sleeping, once I sneeze, she is running to me in a rush and barking at me.

I don't know why, but maybe she is trying to say, "Bless you!"

Getting Longer...

Corgis have short legs, and Luna does too.
I see her growth, getting longer and longer..., but not taller...

Most corgis, in particular Pembroke, are docked their tails when they are young, but I didn't since my breeder didn't. There is some reasoning why corgis are docked their tails. One reason is that long, long ago dogs without tails were tax-deductible in UK; so people docked them.

Anyway, we are so happy that we've kept her tail, which is so expressive. Luna loves chasing her own tail. Recently, she is interested in chasing my ponytail too. It's not the same thing, Luna... :(

This is the photo when she was three-month old.

Where are you?

My friend, Sally, is currently traveling in Japan. Sally met Luna twice before her leaving in the beginning of September.

One day, we had a video/voice chat, and I showed Luna for her.
When Sally called "Luna," Luna was looking for her, "Where is she?" But, she couldn't find her in the end.

This is the photo when she was two-month old.

Shower...

As I expected, the weather is not very well. But there is a corridor at Stanford that we can work. It is pretty big and I am sure that it is enough for Luna.

I reached Stanford around 2pm. Lucky for us, it became clear up. So, we walked around the Oval, a wide grassy area. But after 30 minutes, we were caught in a shower. Then, we went home.

Actually, this was the first time for Luna, riding a car on a rainy day. She got really surprised to see wipers are moving. She was so scared. Poor Luna...

Hold me...

Today is Saturday. Since it seems raining tomorrow, I went to a long walk with Luna.
After 40 minutes or so, she stopped and sat, looking at me. I sat down next to her. She looked like asking me to hold her.

Then, I held her. She seemed so happy and comfortable...
Last week, when she walked with other dogs, she could walk and play with them for over one hour and was just fine although she fell asleep after coming home.

She is so spoiled... :(

Luna's journal

I have a female corgi puppy, Luna born in April 27, 2004.

One day I went to a pet store. The owner said that Luna's personality has been developed well because I, mom of Luna, am always with her. It doesn't mean that my personality is good, but being with a puppy as long as I can is good for raising a good personality.
Since I am working at home, lucky for us, we are always together almost 24/7.

Actually, I have realized that her personality and behavior has been getting similar to me. And my friend often tells me, "Like mother, like daughter..."

Today's discovery:
When Luna is playing with Muffin, the best friend of her, she never gets tired and doesn't have a rest. But she needs a rest while she is walking with me. When I work out alone, I get bored easily, but if I am with friends, I keep on jogging and don't get bored or need a rest so much. Both of us are not self-motivated...

Anyway, I am not enough for her as a playmate.
